Treatments

What we do, in plain English — and the Korean terms, so you know what's on your chart and your receipt.

General dentistry · 일반진료

The everyday things — mostly covered by insurance.

If something hurts, this is usually where we start. Most of what's in this section is covered by National Health Insurance.

Cavity treatment

충치치료

Decay is removed and the tooth is filled. Which material we use depends on where the cavity is and how large it is — this also affects what insurance pays.

Root canal treatment

신경치료

When decay reaches the nerve, we clean out the inside of the tooth so it can be saved rather than pulled. Usually takes more than one visit.

Gum treatment

잇몸치료 · 스케일링

Scaling and periodontal treatment. Bleeding gums are not normal — they're the early stage of something worth catching now.

Extractions

발치 · 사랑니

Including wisdom teeth. We take a 3D scan first when the roots sit near a nerve, so there are no surprises during surgery.

Dentures

틀니

Full and partial dentures. Partially covered by insurance from age 65.

Check-ups

정기검진

A scaling and an examination once a year catches the cheap problems before they become the expensive ones.

Implants · 임플란트

Replacing a tooth that's gone.

An implant is a titanium post placed in the jawbone, with a crown on top. It takes months rather than weeks, because the bone has to fuse to the post before the tooth goes on. Anyone promising an implant in a single afternoon for every case is overselling it.

Standard implant

위례 365 임플란트

Single or multiple missing teeth, planned from a 3D CT scan of your jaw.

Immediate implant

당일 즉시 임플란트

Where the bone and gum allow it, the post is placed the same day the tooth is removed. Whether you're a candidate depends on your scan — we'll tell you straight.

Full-arch implants

전악 임플란트

Rebuilding a whole upper or lower arch when most teeth are missing or failing.

Guided (navigation) implants

네비게이션 임플란트

A surgical guide is made from your CT scan so the post goes exactly where it was planned — useful when nerves or sinuses are close.

Insurance: implants are partially covered from age 65, limited to a small number per lifetime. Under 65, they are not covered. See Insurance & Costs.

Orthodontics · 치아교정

Straightening teeth — several ways to do it.

Orthodontic treatment runs for a year or more and needs regular appointments. Before you commit, it's worth knowing: if you're leaving Korea partway through, tell us at the consultation. It genuinely changes what we'd recommend.

Clear aligners

투명교정

Removable transparent trays. Nearly invisible, but they only work while they're in your mouth — around 20+ hours a day.

Self-ligating braces

클리피씨 (Clippy-C)

Fixed braces with a clip mechanism instead of elastic ties.

Lingual braces

설측교정

Fitted behind the teeth, so they're hidden from the front.

Partial orthodontics

부분교정

Correcting a limited area — often the front teeth — rather than the whole bite. Shorter and cheaper, but not suitable for every case.

Combination treatment

콤비교정

Mixing appliance types — for example lingual on top, clear below — to balance appearance, cost and treatment time.

Children & teens

소아청소년교정

Growth-stage treatment. Timing matters more than technique here — an early check tells us whether to start now or wait.

Orthodontics is not covered by National Health Insurance. It is one of the larger dental costs you'll take on, so ask about the total, the payment schedule, and what happens if you move away before it's finished.

Cosmetic dentistry · 심미치료

Appearance-focused treatment.

None of this is covered by insurance, because none of it is medically necessary. That's not a reason to avoid it — it's a reason to be clear about what you're buying.

Teeth whitening

치아미백

In-clinic and take-home options. Results vary with what caused the discolouration in the first place — whitening won't change the colour of existing crowns or fillings.

Veneers & all-ceramic crowns

라미네이트 · 올세라믹

Thin ceramic shells bonded to the front of the tooth, or a full ceramic crown. Veneers involve removing some natural enamel — that part is permanent, so it deserves a proper conversation first.

Front tooth reshaping

앞니성형

Reshaping or restoring the front teeth for appearance.

Gum contouring

잇몸성형

Reshaping the gum line, usually where a lot of gum shows when smiling.

Not sure which of these you need?

That's normal — it's our job, not yours. Come in for an examination and we'll tell you what's actually going on, in English, before recommending anything.
